There’s something incredibly special about weddings at the Kahkwa Club in Erie, PA—the lush green grounds, the timeless charm, and those dreamy golden-hour portraits make it one of my favorite venues to photograph! But even more than the scenery, it’s the couples and the stories they bring that truly make a wedding unforgettable.
Erin and Kevin poured their hearts into every detail of their day, and it was beautiful to witness. From the very beginning, it was clear this wasn’t just a wedding—it was a celebration of shared memories, deep friendships, and personal touches that made the whole day feel uniquely them.
Their ceremony was officiated by their friend, Connor, who flew in from St Thomas! Not that that wasn’t special enough, Connor put an extra touch of persinalization to the ceremony! Here’s the story; During a friends’ trip to Denmark, a couple years back, the friend group discovered a cinnamon roll shop they all loved – Fastforward to the wedding day: Connor brought these same frozen cinnamon rolls that they loved from that very trip to be able to use during their unity ceremony—a sweet and symbolic nod to their friendship and shared adventures.
Before the unplugged ceremony officially began, Connor gave guests a chance to grab a quick photo, then set the tone by snapping a selfie with the couple. It was such a joyful twist on the unplugged tradition and had everyone laughing and smiling before the vows even began.
After the heartfelt ceremony, the celebration continued with an amazing choreographed first dance—the perfect kickoff to an evening filled with dancing and fun. But one of the most unexpected and sweet surprises? The groom made their wedding cake. He had baked cheesecake for the bridal shower, which was such a hit that he decided to make it again for the big day. It was a labor of love that was the purfect touch added to the Smileys Icecream Truck that would show up as a late night snack later in the night!
The bride’s engagement ring was another deeply personal detail—it was created by the groom’s uncle, a jeweler from St. Louis, using diamonds from his grandmother’s ring. A timeless, sentimental piece that now begins a new chapter in their family’s story.
As the sun began to set (and as always, the Kahkwa Club sunset showed off), we stepped away for a few golden-hour portraits. The soft skies and peaceful greens gave us the perfect setting for some last joy-filled portraits of the newleyweds!
Every wedding has its magic, and this one reminded me why I do what I do: capturing the moments that feel like home to the couple.
Big shoutout to the incredible team who made this day so beautiful!
