Dear Recently Engaged Bride

Dear soon-to-be bride,

You’re engaged! Congratulations!! This is an incredibly exciting season in your life and the two are in for an incredible adventure! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The number one thing I’ve heard is that you, as the bride, often forget to enjoy the actual engagement due to the stress of planning and trying to make everyone happy in the process.

I encourage you to remember what the engagement stage is actually for. Yes, it is a time for planning and prepping for the wedding day, but keep in mind that the wedding day is just that – IT’S A DAY!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with throwing an over-the-top, beautiful party to celebrate the love and commitment the two of you are making to each other, but be sure to keep your relationship as the focus! This ONE day is the very first of every day to follow… AKA, the REST of your lives as husband and wife!

So that’s my first bit of advice; FOCUS ON THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP so you have something great to celebrate for your wedding DAY.

Find yourself a good marriage counselor along with a good couple’s devotion and build the foundation for this one day to be ROCK solid! The word counseling can have a bad wrap, but let me reassure you that it is the exact opposite! There are professionals out there for everything, and investing in the foundation of your marriage is NOT a bad or silly thing! It’ll be the best decision you make out of all the decisions that are to come in this time of prepping!

My biggest wedding day advice: BE PRESENT! You want to look back on all your pictures and get butterflies and happy feelings instead of feeling the stress and weight of the day. That is the LAST thing you want!

Lastly, here are a few more tips to help alleviate some stress throughout the process;

1.) Make a budget; prioritize what is important to you and allocate funds from the top down when deciding how much to spend in each area and get the ones of most priority booked first!

2.) When making your timeline, leave 10 minutes here and there throughout the day so if things get pushed back your not stressed trying to make up the time.

3.) Keep it simple! In making any plans, whether its the size of your wedding party or how extravagant to go on the centerpieces, simple is always better!

4.) Have a list of family photos so you don’t ever look back and regret not having a photo with someone who means the world to you on this life-changing day!

5.) During the wedding day, carve out at least one part of the day where you and your hubby can go somewhere quiet and just savor this day that you two have been waiting for.

Enjoy this season and build a marriage beyond the wedding day!

I am cheering you on! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ

Robyn
